Directional
Directional stabilizers are unique considering they are not intended for rotation like the rest of the stabilizer family. It's not that you can't rotate them, because in fact you can. However, with the straight blade feature, this stab is designed to slide down hole behind the directional mud motor; while controlling or locking up the drill string as the directional mud motor rotates the bit to penetrate threw the formations, while steering to hit the intended target. Directional Stabs are almost always slightly under gauge from the bit as opposed to full gauge in order to allow needed maneuverability for directional tools (Mud Motor) steering flexibility. These stabs are almost always Board for Float. They come with weld on blades. ChrisCo offers both weld hard facing blades and tungsten carbide inserted with carbide composite blades for maximum wear resistance and longer life.
